Bringing financial management from web to native app.

My role - As the sole product designer, I:

  • Led design from concept to launch
  • Conducted post-launch user research
  • Collaborated closely with cross-functional partners

Results

  • 📈  Driving 34% of monthly active user engagement on mobile
  • ✨ Introduced native features like swipe actions, camera upload.
  • 🧱 Built a component library for iOS to support future mobile design

Background

LZ Books is a financial management tool for small business owners.

Users can track transactions, discover deductions, send invoices, and access tax information through the platform.

Problem

LZ Books was only accessible via responsive web, limiting engagement and mobile usability.

25% of LegalZoom users rely on mobile web, but the experience is lacking. Managing finances on the go is difficult, limiting engagement and missing opportunities to provide a seamless mobile solution.

Current mobile web experience

Challenge

How might we launch an MVP in 4 months while laying the foundation for future scalability?

Prioritizing features for MVP

We audited the web experience, prioritized key features for the app, and added native mobile features to make it more intuitive and mobile-friendly.

Evolving complex web interactions into simple, mobile-friendly experiences

Creating a system that could scale across future native app

Final design

New mobile financial management app that empowers small business owners to effortlessly manage their finances anytime, anywhere.

Next project.
